Adobe Air (formerly code-named Apollo)

Adobe AirWith the note of the divide between browser-based and desktop applications is quickly disappearing, Adobe has released its new Adobe Integrated Runtime ( Previously known as Apollo).

Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that allows developer's existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, JavaScript, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop.

While Expertise and geeks experimenting on AIR, Adobe has given an article on "Must see Air Sample". Comparing the three applications that support open-source scripting languages, (Silverlight, JavaFX and AIR) developers now have more options left for thier choice. The best of the lot will be know soon.

Adobe has announced their new logo and tag line for Photoshop. On the first look it’s fresh and glossy, but I feel somehow its not relating to represent Photoshop. Photoshop ExpressAdobe has put up a version of its flagship product online for free. Yes, you will be able to use Photoshop Express to edit your photos right in your browser, free of charge. But it wont carry all the features that a standalone would have. You can use this online edition if you just want to clean up some of your digital pictures, you can't go wrong.

Adobe Media Player

Adobe® Media Player™ is a desktop media player that offers useful features for viewers to manage and interact with their favorite content, and features for content publishers to define branding and advertising in and around their content. The Adobe Media Player will be one of the first Apollo applications from Adobe.

Adobe Flash Player is the high-performance, lightweight runtime client for delivering content and RIAs within the browser. Adobe Media Player is a desktop media player that offers useful features for viewers to manage and interact with their favorite content, and features for content publishers to define branding and advertising in and around their content. The Adobe Media Player is a cross-operating system application built using Apollo.

The Adobe Media Player is expected to ship before end of 2007, coinciding with the first full release of Apollo.

Adobe Extends Web Video Leadership with H.264 Support

Adobe delivers support for H.264 video and High Efficiency AAC audio codecs in the latest update to Adobe Flash Player 9, available in beta on Adobe Labs.

This update, codenamed “Moviestar,” includes new features, enhancements and bug fixes for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux versions of Flash Player 9, including:

  • Support for H.264 video and HE-AAC audio codecs (new Aug. 21, 2007).
  • Multi-core support for vector rendering.
  • Full screen mode with hardware scaling.
  • Flash Player cache for common platform components, such as the Flex framework.
  • Support for Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) in the Windows plug-in.
